Why stats don’t tell the story of Giants’ big-time run game

ORCHARD PARK — The Giants running backs and offensive linemen were well aware of what the outside expectations were for them in Sunday’s game against the Bills and Rex Ryan’s fearsome defensive front.

Not a lot was expected of them. They were, in fact, expected to struggle.

When you look at the final box score of Sunday’s 24-10 Giants win over the Bills at Ralph Wilson Stadium, it does not appear as if they ran roughshod over the Buffalo defense. But the Giants’ running game was effective enough to help them deter some of the Bills’ aggressiveness on defense.
