The Giants have shown early interest in free agent tight end Anthony Fasano, a Verona, N.J., native, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.
It's nothing serious yet, according to the individual, who requested anonymity. But to quote another Jersey guy, the Giants should do whatever they must to make sure things get late early around here - especially with the Jets also in the mix.
Fasano makes too much sense for the Giants, who desperately need a stronger blocking presence at tight end, and an improved running game. Given the Giants' modest available cap space - about $11-13 million, depending on if you factor in Kerry Wynn's restricted free agent tender - they are unlikely to be in the running for the top-end tight ends on the market like Martellus Bennett, Jared Cook and Jack Doyle.
