EAST RUTHERFORD — Two hours before most of their teammates arrived for the start of training camp, the Giants' rookies, quarterbacks and select veterans were on the field Wednesday for their third practice of the summer.
There's a new way of doing things around the Giants.
The idea is to get coaches a better early evaluation of players whose repetitions are going to decrease — mildly in some cases and drastically in others — once most of the projected starters and backups join camp for Thursday's practice.
"We need to get out there and bang around a little bit and get ready to go," head coach Pat Shurmur said.
