EAST RUTHERFORD -- Giants general manager Jerry Reese on Tuesday defended his decision to return this season with the same starting tackles as a year ago.
While 23-year-old tackles Ereck Flowers and Bobby Hart have predictably struggled during the Giants' 1-6 start, Reese offered his rationale for not adding a veteran tackle, such as 35-year-old Andrew Whitworth, in the offseason.
"We want to be a younger football team," Reese said in his lone in-season press conference. "Everybody has an opinion about who was available and who wasn't. To us, it didn't make sense for us.
