The New York Giants shipped the disappointing edge rusher to the Cleveland Browns for useful guard Kevin Zeitler. The trade itself should prove useful offensively for the team, as right tackle seems to be the only sore spot left along the offensive line.
The team’s defense, an acknowledged hot spot by general manager Dave Gettleman, continues its downward trend though. This past week, both Vernon and former Pro Bowl safety Landon Collins were removed from the 2019 defensive equation.
And it was not an area of strength to begin with.
Ironically, the addition of Zeitler continues the “throwback” trend of Gettleman and head coach Pat Shurmur.
