WATCH: Ex-Giant Michael Strahan's take on NFL national anthem protests | 'How could I ... be offended?'

Week 1 of the 2018 NFL season is in the books, and protesting the national anthem before games doesn't appear to be the headline-grabbing story it was in 2017.

According to the Associated Press, less than 10 players protested during the anthem on Sunday, with two of them, Dolphins teammates Albert Wilson and Kenny Stills, taking a knee during the "Star-Spangled Banner."

However, with the 2018 midterm election cycle ramping up, and President Donald Trump's propensity to attack the NFL via Twitter, the national anthem protests will remain part of the conversation for the days, weeks and months ahead.
