Victor Cruz’s career isn’t over. He just had to wait awhile to find his next destination.
The former Giants wide receiver has agreed to a one-year deal with the Bears, according to NFL Network. He is expected to sign in the coming days.
Cruz had been a free agent since the Giants cut him on Feb. 13 to save $7.5 million against the salary cap. He also had drawn interest from the Jaguars (now run by his former Giants coach, Tom Coughlin) and Panthers.
The 30-year-old Cruz, who spend seven mostly successful seasons with his hometown team, winning a Super Bowl and being named to a Pro Bowl, caught 39 passes for 586 yards and a touchdown last year after missing most of the previous two seasons due to injury.
