Victor Cruz has been released by the Giants, a source confirmed to Newsday’s Tom Rock.
Cruz caught 39 passes for 586 yards and a touchdown in 2016, his first season back from a torn patellar tendon two years ago. But he also saw several games in which he was a non-factor. He is due to earn $6.4 million in 2017 and $7.4 million in 2018 on his current contract.
An undrafted free agent in 2010, Cruz broke out in his first preseason, catching six passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns against the Jets. The slot receiver had 303 catches for 4,549 yards and 25 touchdowns in 53 games with the Giants.
