Victor Cruz optimistic over doc's opinion on ankle

Victor Cruz may play on Monday night, but on Thursday afternoon he did not.

The wide receiver, who sprained his ankle on Sunday against the Eagles, was a non-participant in practice. Cruz described himself as “day-to-day” earlier in the week in a radio interview and was hopeful he could play against the Bengals.

It’s likely that Cruz’s first test on the practice field, if he feels up to it by then, will come over the weekend during the team’s Sunday practice. The Giants would then see how he recovers from it on Monday and make a decision on his gameday availability at that point.
