Vacchiano: Hard to replace JPP in middle of thin Blue line

Jerry Reese thinks the Giants’ defense is “going to surprise some people,” and he might be right since the expectations are pretty low. Their defense does have talent, and Steve Spagnuolo has re-energized them with a new, aggressive scheme.

It’s just hard to overlook the gaping hole in their lineup left by Jason Pierre-Paul.

“JPP is obviously the name on this defensive line,” said defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins. “He is a star or that type of player that is really hard to replace.”

“You don’t replace a great player, period,” added defensive end Robert Ayers. “Even if you plug in another great player, you just don’t replace him.
