The expectations for Odell Beckham this season were always absurd, and everybody knew it. No receiver had ever had the kind of start that he did in the NFL last season. It was insane to expect him to do it again.
But it wasn’t out of line to expect more out of Beckham than the Giants have gotten so far.
It’s not that he’s not playing well. He’s certainly still the best receiver on the team and one of the best in all of football. It’s just that heading into the Giants’ game Sunday night against the San Francisco 49ers, Beckham’s numbers and performance have seemed almost.
