For the first time in a long time, things had seemed pretty quiet around the Giants’ offensive linemen. There had been no weekly reviews of poor performances. They weren’t constantly badgered with questions about what went wrong.
They had played reasonably well, in fact. They had given up just four sacks in the first five games. So mostly they were able to just quietly do their work.
Then came Monday night.
There were many reasons for the Giants’ meltdown in Philadelphia, but even Tom Coughlin said it “wasn’t our best effort” up front. Three sacks, two intentional grounding penalties, plenty of pressure on Eli Manning, and absolutely no push in the run game.
