Jerry Reese struck gold with the 12th pick in the NFL draft last year, getting a player who far exceeded even the Giants’ expectations.
Odell Beckham Jr. turned out to be so good, in fact, it can be argued he saved a lot of Giants’ jobs.
It would be unreasonable — crazy, really — to expect Reese to duplicate that kind of draft magic, even though the Giants’ pick in the first round on Thursday night is three spots higher. But that doesn’t mean the pressure is off the Giants general manager.
He doesn’t just need to draft an impact player with the ninth pick.
