Unsung slot corner out to prove Giants already have their man

If the Giants had to line up and play today, it is possible, and actually more than likely, their starting nickelback would be Trevin Wade.

It is a long way between now and the Sept. 11 season opener against the Cowboys, but Wade, at the moment, is the most natural and experienced cornerback working out of the slot. The corner trio of Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Janoris Jenkins and first-round pick Eli Apple has great pedigree and talent, but none of the three has much of a résumé when it comes to playing inside in the slot.

“I like inside, it’s really challenging, you got to think a lot,’’ Wade said Wednesday.
