In every NFL offseason, a few hot-shot college football coaches are bandied about for the half-dozen head-coaching vacancies.
In recent years, we’ve seen Pete Carroll (USC to Seattle Seahawks), Chip Kelly (Oregon to Philadelphia Eagles), Bill O’Brien (Penn State to Houston Texans), Jim Harbaugh (Stanford to San Francisco 49ers), Greg Schiano (Rutgers to Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and Doug Marrone (Syracuse to Buffalo Bills) make the leap to the NFL from the college ranks.
Some have had varying degrees of success after winning big in college.
