Eli Manning was among the last to know, which seems to be a disturbing pattern these days. He had noticed one of his starting receivers, Preston Parker, wasn’t at practice Tuesday afternoon, and the quarterback didn’t know why. Later he was told Parker had been released Tuesday morning, a victim of his spotty play and the Giants’ 0-2 start.
“I didn’t see him at practice today and was wondering what was going on,” Manning said in the Giants locker room. “Nobody told me. I didn’t know about it, didn’t hear about it until then.”
Just about everyone else noticed on a team where job security can no longer be taken for granted.
