Thrilled Patriots underline just how miserable Giants look

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The only thing missing on this night of unadulterated celebration by the Patriots and their fans was the unfurling of their latest Super Bowl banner. That will have to wait until the season opener next Thursday night against Pittsburgh, which figures to be another occasion to gloat over Judge Richard Berman overturning Tom Brady’s four-game suspension for Deflategate.

Signs of “Brady is Free” and “Vindicated” and “Judge Berman for President” were spread around Gillette Stadium during the Giants’ 12-9 victory Thursday night even though the Patriots star quarterback was nowhere in sight.

Anyone with any interest in the visiting team should have brought along a banner that read something like: “Free the Giants.
