DETROIT — Pat Shurmur had two options: Learn more about his second-year quarterback or his second-year kicker.
Faced with a fourth-and-1 at the Lions' 13-yard line, the Giants coach and offensive play-caller opted to keep his offense on the field and dialed up a quarterback snap. Davis Webb converted to extend a drive that ended with a touchdown pass.
But was it also a sign that Shurmur has confidence in kicker Aldrick Rosas? After all, he didn't take the opportunity to attempt a 30-yard field goal.
Rosas was perfect on field goals for the Giants in the preseason as a rookie, winning the job over veteran Mike Nugent.
