The Giants will wake up Tuesday morning in last place in the NFC East, deservedly so at 1-4 after five games. They will not be buried in their division, though, and might not be too far behind what appears to be a middling pack.
The Super Bowl champion Eagles are 2-3. The Cowboys are 2-3. The Redskins are taking a 2-1 record into Monday night’s difficult game against the Saints in New Orleans. So, the Giants, not long after their harrowing 33-31 loss to the Panthers, might reside in a grouping of four teams without a winning record among them.
