Daniel Jones inspired a Giants win Sunday and a few apologies along the way.
The rookie was widely criticized, as were the Giants, when they drafted him No. 6 overall in April’s draft. To many, it seemed like a reach at the time, and Jones’ introduction to New York included getting booed at Yankee Stadium in June.
But some critics have come clean after Jones turned in a stellar debut Sunday, leading the Giants to a comeback 32-31 win over the Buccaneers. Making his first start in place of Eli Manning, the 22-year-old Duke product completed 23-of-36 passes for 336 yards and two touchdowns while running for two more touchdowns, including the game-winner.
