The New York Giants were lead by their defense in 2020, confusing quarterbacks and putting them on the ground at a solid rate. The Giants finished with 40 sacks on the season, tied with the Indianapolis Colts for 12th in the NFL. But despite the Giants’ defensive success, the team struggled to consistently rush the passer. Likewise, while the Giants’ interior run defense was excellent, they were inconsistent in defending the edges on rushing plays.
The Giants are attempting to solve the problem by investing in their EDGE positions. The team drafted Azeez Ojulari and Elerson Smith in the second and fourth rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft, and brought in veterans Ryan Anderson and Ifaedi Odeningbo as well.
