Ownership, the front office and the coaching staff is fond of saying “Once a Giant, always a Giant.’’
The franchise has a way of recycling its players, and did it again Wednesday by bringing back Barry Cofield as a spare defensive tackle.
Cofield, 31, returns to the team that made him a fourth-round draft pick in 2006. The signing will not be made official until Thursday.
Cofield takes the roster spot that belonged to safety Brandon Meriweather, who was waived.
Meriweather did not make a big impact after he was signed in August. Meriweather started the first 11 games for the Giants, who struggled with some of the worst safety play in the league.
