Throughout this offseason, as the Giants allowed veteran safeties to walk out the door and did virtually nothing to add new talent at that position, there was the possibility that one of them, Stevie Brown, would return.
That will not be the case. Brown signed a one-year deal with the Texans on Wednesday.
The Giants had an offer on the table for Brown, believed to be a one-year, veteran-minimum type of deal. He was looking for more. Brown, 27, blossomed into a bona fide starter in 2012, leading the team with eight interceptions – the most by a Giants player in 44 years.
