Sterling Shepard’s risky decision is his to make

Why take the risk?

That’s easy for me to ask of Giants receiver Sterling Shepard, who was cleared from the concussion protocol Friday afternoon and is expected to play against the Bears on Sunday at Soldier Field. But it was Shepard, not me, who signed a $41 million contract extension in April that’s paying him an average of $10.25 million per year for the next four seasons.

I can write about sports at The Post, which I’ve done since 1993, for a long time. Shepard has only a finite window during which he will be skilled enough to catch passes for the Giants.
