The Detroit Lions finally released veteran linebacker Stephen Tulloch on Tuesday, and speculation he could be a fit for the Eagles soon followed.
As NJ.com colleague Eliot Shorr-Parks outlined soon after the news broke, Tulloch could make sense for Philly if they want to take a flier on a 31-year-old linebacker. The Eagles do lack depth at the position, and Tulloch is one of new defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz's guys. Tulloch played under Schwartz when he was Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator from 2006-2008, and then was with Schwartz in Detroit in 2011-13 when Schwartz was head coach.
