SAN FRANCISCO – Phil Simms is creeping up on … John Madden.
An entire generation of football fans know Simms more for his work as an NFL broadcaster (for NBC and currently for CBS) than his tremendous run as the Giants’ quarterback from 1979-93. Simms completed a Super Bowl-record 88.0 percent of his passes (22 of 25) while leading the Giants to a 39-20 rout of the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXI 29 years ago.
Now Simms is closing in as on another Super Bowl record – most games as a television analyst.
