Gettleman’s acquisition of veteran running back Jonathan Stewart was not one of them. The New York Giants’ signing of the 31-year-old running back has only drawn more criticism this preseason due to Stewart’s play through three games.
The former first-round pick out of Oregon is averaging -0.5 yards per carry this preseason. Against the New York Jets, Stewart accounted for minus-seven yards on three carries. He also gave up a costly fumble at the Jets’ six-yard line in the first quarter.
