The first preseason game is always tricky. Most of the players are riled up and hungry after a long offseason, and are chomping at the bit to show what they can do. Many of them are on a new team, some rookies, eager to prove they belong at this level. The tricky part for the coaching staff is to figure out a way to equally balance playing time with the possibility of getting an important player hurt.
