Saquon Barkley’s confidence remains unchanged. His belief hasn’t waned. Two losses, however disappointing, have not given him pause.
“I don’t think we feel we’re a much better team than [our record] — I think we know we’re a much better team than that,” the Giants rookie running back said Wednesday. “I think we know we’re so close. In this locker room, no one’s overreacting.”
Barkley isn’t ignoring the issues, particularly with the offense, saying, “We should be producing” more points. He blamed himself for the struggles of the running game — Big Blue has managed only 149 yards on the ground in two games on 40 carries — saying he needs to look for fewer home runs and be more physical.
