Welcome to the NFL, Saquon Barkley.
After a tough first few quarters in his debut, the Giants’ No. 2-overall pick showed what the hype was all about in the fourth quarter of the Jaguars-Giants opener Sunday.
Barkley took a handoff from Eli Manning from the Giants’ own 32-yard line, took it up the middle, bounced off a tackle and broke the run to the right. Broke another tackle. Turned the corner. Broke another tackle. And he was gone.
The electric rookie took it 68 yards in total, closing the Jacksonville lead to 20-15.
Barkley had been bottled up by a stout Jaguars defense for much of the first three quarters, but the home run bounced him up to 105 yards on 17 carries.
