According to ESPN.com, free-agent defensive end/outside linebacker Osi Umenyiora might sign a one-day contract with the Giants and retire with the organization that drafted him.
Umenyiora and the Giants are in talks about such an arrangement, the website reports.
Umenyiora played with Big Blue from 2003-12 and helped New York win Super Bowls XLII and XLVI over the Patriots. The 33-year-old recorded 75 sacks as a Giant, ranking him fourth in franchise history behind Michael Strahan, Lawrence Taylor and Leonard Marshall.
The two-time Pro Bowler had 14.
