Prior to the New York Giants finally signing defensive lineman Leonard Williams to a contract extension on Tuesday, it looked like they wouldn’t be able to get anything done with a report out that he was asking for too much money.
Ralph Vacchiano of SNY reported afterwards that Williams did in fact want “significantly” more than the $19 million that he was slated to make on the franchise tag in 2021.
If Williams continues to play at a high level by the time he becomes a free agent again, he might be able to cash in again.
