With the New York Giants losing outside linebackers coach Bret Bielema after he took the University of Illinois coaching job on Saturday, former Big Blue linebacker Jessie Armstead will coach the outside linebackers on Sunday night against the Cleveland Browns.
NFL insider Jay Glazer broke the news on FOX’s pregame show, according to Giants Wire.
The 50 year-old Armstead played linebacker for the Giants from 1993-2001 and finished his career in 2004 with the Carolina Panthers after a short stint in Washington. He is certainly one of the great linebackers in New York Giants history and what’s really remarkable is that he was taken in the eighth round of the 1993 NFL Draft.
