The trade winds started early. The NFL’s trade deadline is 4 p.m. ET on October 30, but the Dallas Cowboys made a move Mondsay for wide receiver help. First reported by ESPN’s Josina Anderson, the Cowboys traded for Oakland Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper for the cost of a 2019 first-round pick.
The cost
So, first: that’s a lot to give up for Amari Cooper. Cooper started his career with two-straight 1,000-yard seasons, but struggled last year and has yet to inspire in 2018. Charles Robinson of Yahoo reported the Cowboys were basically bidding against themselves by offering a pick that high — though he also reported Dallas was likely to use that pick on a wide receiver in the draft anyway.
