The Giants general manager, in the wake of the stunning No. 6 pick of Daniel Jones in Thursday’s draft, said he could not wait 11 picks for the team’s next selection because two teams would have jumped on Jones. Reports have followed that the Giants were wary of the Broncos — who, later reports indicated, had second-rounder Drew Lock their No. 1-ranked QB — and the Redskins — who wound up with Dwayne Haskins at No. 15.
Washington had long been linked with Haskins, who played high school ball in their backyard.
