Dave Gettleman has become a league-wide laughingstock, but the cackles appear to be loudest in Washington DC.
Josh Norman was a victim of Gettleman’s decision-making with the Panthers and has been critical of him since. The former Carolina GM opted to rescind the franchise tag on the cornerback before the 2016 season, leading to him signing with the Redskins. A similar scenario played out this offseason when Gettleman, now the Giants GM, chose not to put the franchise tag on Pro Bowl safety Landon Collins, who signed a six-year $84 million to join Norman in the Redskins secondary.
