The New York Giants have had four quarterbacks take them to a Super Bowl. Of the first three, none left the franchise on good terms. Regardless of whether or not the time had come for some of these players to depart, the Giants seem to stumble upon that decision.
In the case of Kerry Collins, it probably was his time to depart. In the cases of Phil Simms and Jeff Hostetler, things got as ugly as ugly could get. Neither player walked out a winner, and hard feelings resulted.
Strangely enough, this same tortured quarterback history has begun to play itself out with Eli Manning.
