Proof that Eli Manning was Giants’ king of the comeback

Eli Manning often saved his best for last.

With 27 career regular-season fourth-quarter comebacks, Manning is tied for No. 13 among quarterbacks since 1960, according to Pro Football Reference. That’s one more than Joe Montana and more than twice as many as “Captain Comeback” Roger Staubach.

Manning won’t be adding any more to the résumé now that he is retiring.

Here is a closer breakdown of all the times Manning was money in a big spot:

1. Giants 28, Cowboys 24 (Jan. 2, 2005): The Giants trailed by nine at the start of the fourth, but Manning earned his first career win by throwing touchdowns to David Tyree and Tiki Barber, and leading the winning 66-yard drive capped by a Barber touchdown run with 11 seconds to go.
