A year ago, to boost the play-making weapons around quarterback Daniel Jones, New York Giants GM Joe Schoen took a big swing by trading a third-round pick for talented but injury-prone, enigmatic tight end Darren Waller.
That did not pan out. Waller wasn’t the game-changer the Giants hoped he would be, and injuries limited his playing time and production. This offseason, Waller retired from football.
In revamping the position for 2024, Schoen took a more conservative approach. He drafted a potential all-around tight end, Theo Johnson in Round 4 of the 2024 NFL Draft.
