Patriots finally awarded “19-0” trademark despite losing Super Bowl XLII

Even though the New England Patriots ended up losing Super Bowl XLII to the New York Giants, which ended their hopes at a perfect season, they were awarded the trademarks for “19-0” and “Perfect Season.”

The Patriots filed for the trademarks right after they hit the 18-0 mark, but of course couldn’t finish the job against the Giants.

What’s really interesting is that the Patriots never retracted their trademark requests. They actually applied for extensions after knowing they never finished 19-0. A third trademark, “Road to Perfection,” ended up not getting approved.

Maybe New England are still hopeful that one day their team will finally finished 19-0 for a perfect season.
