BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Mike Holmgren, in addition to being a Super Bowl-winning coach with the Packers, was Pat Shurmur’s boss in Cleveland, a gig that lasted two seasons. Holmgren believes Shurmur has learned from his first go-round and will be a better head coach with the Giants.
“Absolutely,” Holmgren said Wednesday inside the Super Bowl Media Center at the Mall of America. “He was good, I thought, the first time around. We didn’t have a quarterback, and now he’s got a quarterback.”
Holmgren did not mention Eli Manning by name, but it is safe to assume he was referring to the 37-year-old about to enter his 15th season with the Giants.
