Of course Pat Shurmur heard and no doubt saw footage of the Jets and Redskins brawling through their first joint practice Sunday. Of course, Shurmur has been around the NFL block long enough to know what can and often does happen when two teams share one field under the hot sun.
So naturally, Shurmur has instructed the Giants as to exactly what he expects these next three days, when they work together with the Lions in Allen Park, Mich.
“We want our guys to be smart, we want our guys to compete, be smart, we want to stay off the ground, we want to eliminate all that chatter and just keep it encouraging,” Shurmur said Monday after practice inside the dry field house.
