EAST RUTHERFORD — Julie Herb thought she was just attending a football game on Sunday. Her boyfriend, Brian Malast, had a bit more in mind.
About 30 minutes before the Giants' 28-23 win over the Eagles kicked off on Sunday, Malast, a Manchester, N.J. native, surprised Herb by proposing in the north end zone at MetLife Stadium. Herb accepted, setting off a celebration with family members that had gathered to watch the proposal.
A huge Giants fan, Malast has been a fixture at games since he became paralyzed from the neck down in 2005 as the result of a car accident while on duty as a New Jersey State Police trooper.
