Only 1 compensatory pick for the New York Giants

Contrary to what previous reports predicted, the New York Giants received only one compensatory pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. According to the team’s official website, the G-Men receive an extra fifth round selection that comes in at 171st overall.

Barring a trade, that gives general manager Dave Gettleman and company 10 selections in the upcoming draft.

In terms of the compensation received, it seems fair, regardless of what earlier predictions stated.

Per Giants.com:

“The level of compensation (i.e., the round and selection number within the round) that the prior club receives for each CFA lost is based upon a weighted combination of the CFA’s average yearly compensation, postseason honors and playtime with the new team, ranked against all players in the league who are on rosters.
