Odell Beckham Jr.’s appeal hearing will take place Wednesday, and James Thrash will render the decision on whether the one-game suspension levied against the Giants phenom will stick for Sunday’s game against the Vikings in Minneapolis.
A decision on the appeal is expected quickly, perhaps the same day. If the suspension is lifted, Beckham undoubtedly will have to pay a stiff fine.
The suspension – the first ever for a Giants player for an on-field incident – came down Monday. The league explained the punishment was for “multiple violations of safety-related playing rules.’’ Beckham engaged in repeated altercations with cornerback Josh Norman in the Giants’ 38-35 loss to the Panthers, with the most egregious action coming in the third quarter, when Beckham targeted and struck Norman with a vicious helmet-to-helmet blow that was replayed over and over again on network television and social media.
