According to Art Stapleton of The Record, free agent running back C.J. Anderson is a name to “consider” as the NY Giants look for a Saquon Barkley replacement.
Anderson was surprisingly released by the Detroit Lions last week.
Over the course of his seven-year NFL career, he’s averaging 4.5 yards per carry.
Barkley injured his ankle in Sunday’s game vs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will miss 4-8 weeks.
Wayne Gallman and Eli Penny are the only healthy running backs on the roster with Jon Hilliman and Austin Walter serving as practice squad options.
