Eli Manning wasn’t the only one who butchered the end of the Giants’ Week 1 loss to the Cowboys.
The NFL acknowledged Thursday its officiating crew — led by referee Bill Vinovich — erred on two calls in end zone during the Giants’ heart-breaking 27-26 loss, both of which went in the Cowboys’ favor, NFL Network reported.
One of the missed calls came on the most scrutinized play of the game: Manning’s failed third-and-goal pass in the final two minutes. The intended receiver on the play, tight end Daniel Fells, was held by Cowboys safety Barry Church, the NFL belatedly confessed.
