It turns out Odell Beckham Jr. had a point.
The Giants wide receiver wrote on Instagram that he was fined $18,000 by the NFL for wearing cleats to honor late NBA announcer Craig Sager in Sunday's 17-6 win over the Lions. Beckham announced before the game that he would auction the cleats off to benefit the Sager Strong Foundation for cancer research.
Beckham shouldn't have been surprised that the multi-colored cleats drew a fine due to the NFL's rigid uniform rules. But earlier this week Beckham claimed to be the subject of a double standard from the NFL and it's hard to argue otherwise in light of the league's subjective disciplinary actions.
