Searching the list of veteran NFL offensive tackles still available in free agency at this time of year might as well turn up the name: Pickings, Slim.
For proof of the premium placed on offensive tackle nowadays, look no further than last week, when, within a matter of hours, two offensive tackles (Taylor Lewan of the Titans and Jake Matthews of the Falcons) re-signed for five years apiece with their teams for a combined total of $155 million.
Lewan's deal topped the one the Giants gave Nate Solder ($62 million over four years) in March to leave the Patriots as the highest-paid offensive lineman in the NFL.
