As the 2016 NFL Draft approached the Giants were all set to take Leonard Floyd, a linebacker from Georgia, with the 10th pick of the first round. Then the Chicago Bears traded up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and took him at No. 9.
The Giants still did fine, with Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple at No. 10. And they did add a linebacker, B.J. Goodson, in the fourth round. Still, a year later in a draft stocked with linebackers is that where the Giants may go with the No. 23 overall selection?
"It's a terrific year for linebackers,'' one personnel executive said.
